Lake Bled
Bled became a popular tourist resort in the 19th century when the Swiss doctor Arnold Rikli discovered the beneficial properties of the area's natural resources and founded a health centre there. Bled's premier attractions are a lake of glacial origin with an island in the middle and a castle whose history dates back to the 11th century.
Zagreb
The capital of Croatia, which forms the centre of the country inland, is a beautiful European city that unfortunately remains undiscovered most of the time when visiting Croatia . The cultural, scientific and economic metropolis offers its tourists a wide range of fascinating possibilities.
In the city, besides the baroque atmosphere through the many historic buildings and open-air markets, you can also expect an enormous variety of museums and exhibitions in the centre of Croatian art and science.
In addition, however, Zagreb is also known for its selection of shops and boutiques, which turn out to be a pure shopping paradise in the "Ilica" mile.
Although Zagreb is not on the sea, on hot days you can relax on the "Zagreb Sea", the so-called Jarun Lake, and enjoy a wide range of water sports and beach bars. If you just want to take a little break in the city centre, you can use the many charming restaurants and cafés as well as the many green parks that run through the entire city centre.
Plitvice National Park
The Plitvice Lakes is the oldest and the largest national park in the Republic of Croatia. The exceptional natural beauty of this area has always attracted nature lovers. As a result of that, it was declared the first national park of the Republic of Croatia as early as 8 April 1949. The process of tufa formation, through which tufa barriers and subsequently lakes are formed, is the outstanding universal value for which Plitvice Lakes received international recognition on 26 October 1979, when it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List
With its exceptional natural beauty, this area has always attracted nature lovers, and already on 8 April 1949, it was proclaimed Croatia’s first national park. The process of tufa formation, which results in the building of the tufa, or travertine, barriers and resulted in the creation of the lakes, is the outstanding universal value, for which the Plitvice Lakes were internationally recognised on 26 October 1979 with their inscription onto the UNESCO World Heritage List. In 1997, the boundaries of the national park were expanded, and today it covers an area just under 300 km2.
Ljubljana
Ljubljana is a city built on a human scale and one that puts its people first. The city centre has long ago banished cars to make room for more outdoor cafes and restaurants, cultural events, open-air markets, bike lanes, shopping areas... The joy of living in this city emanates from its every corner. Come and let the Ljubljana variety of dolce vita come over you.
If you’re more of an outdoorsy type, you won’t be disappointed either. Slovenians love sports, preferably outdoors. You’ll find hiking and biking paths in the heart of the city, or you can explore beyond city limits and go for world-class hiking, skiing, white water rafting and other adrenaline experiences.
